Plumber-Maintenance Foreman Position

The Fitchburg Housing Authority seeks to hire a Licensed Plumber who will also undertake maintenance duties and supervise a two-person maintenance vacancy crew.  Job duties include:  Repairs to plumbing systems, basic carpentry, painting and minor HVAC, electric and appliance repair, at times general custodial work, with primary duties vacant unit rehab.  Other duties include preventive maintenance tasks.   Must have ability to operate snow removal equipment including snow plowing or the ability to learn such tasks.  Position will be required to participate in the rotating on-call system.   Qualifications: Knowledge of plumbing systems and ability to ID problems and repair.  General knowledge of maintenance systems and small and medium tools is a requirement.  High School diploma, Massachusetts Driver’s and Plumbing licenses are required.   Employee must be able to pass a CORI check, drug and alcohol testing, and have the physical ability to move heavy objects and operate power tools and equipment such as lawnmowers and snowplowing equipment.   Salary Range:   Forty (40) hours a week at $34.34 per hour with another $1.00 to $3.00 additional per hour for the foreman duties.  (Final Foreman compensation to be determined by current union negotiations).  This is a Union Position.  Generous benefit package including: state retirement and health care, sick, personal, and vacation benefits, and holidays.   Application instructions:   Applications will be taken until position is filled.  Send cover letter, general resume with three references and proof of plumbing license to Douglas M. Maintenance-Laborer-II Position
